The F/A-18 Hornet is a versatile strike fighter aircraft in wide use by the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps air components as well as several other air forces. In U.S. service, the F/A-18 replaced the A-7 Corsair and F-4 Phantoms in carrier air wings, while in Marine squadrons it replaced the F-4 and A-4 Skyhawk aircraft. The night attack variant replaced Marine Corps A-6E Intruder aircraft.
