The Philippine army has chosen an Israeli company to deliver new light tanks, reports Defence Blog.
Under the US$196 million contract, Elbit Systems will supply tracked and wheeled versions of its Sabrah light tank, armed with a 105-mm cannon, as well command and support vehicles.
The deal covers eight tracked vehicles based on the hull of the ASCOD 2 infantry fighting vehicle and 12 based on the Pandur II wheeled armored vehicle.
