The U.S. military is planning to reduce its operations against the Somali terrorist group Al-Shabaab, reports NBC News.
The decision follows successful strikes targeting several members of the group's leadership cadre, said two senior officials.
The number of viable targets has been steadily reduced, said one official.
Al-Shabaab remains a threat to the Somali government and neighboring countries but the danger to the U.S. has been greatly reduced, the officials said.
