French President Emmanuel Macron has promised to step up military support for Benin during an official visit, reports France 24.
On Wednesday, Macron met with his Beninese counterpart, Patrice Talon, in Cotonou, pledging to strengthen cooperation and investment in security, education and culture.
Benin has experienced an uptick in attacks by Al-Qaida and ISIS militants as the groups spread south from Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger.
