On July 20, 2026, General Atomics Aeronautical Systems and Kongsberg announced they successfully completed two major design reviews for integrating the Joint Strike Missile (JSM) with the MQ-9B uncrewed aircraft system. The reviews took place in Norway on June 30.
The MQ-9B is an all-weather uncrewed aerial vehicle that can perform missions over land and sea. The Joint Strike Missile is an air-to-surface weapon designed to engage high-priority targets. Once integrated, the missile will expand the MQ-9B's mission capabilities by providing an advanced strike system that can operate alongside or independently of crewed aircraft.
