Former British Sentry Aircraft Begins Transformation Into E-6B Trainer

The Navy has begun work to transform a former British early warning aircraft into a training plane, reports the War Zone website.
The service purchased the former E-3D airborne warning and control system (AWACS) aircraft from the British Royal Air Force for $15 million with plans to modify it into a trainer for Navy E-6B Mercury pilots.
Both aircraft are based on the Boeing 707 passenger jet.
