Dozens Killed In Al-Shabaab Assaults On Military Bases

The Somali military says at least 76 militants were killed in a pair of assaults on Somali military bases in Lower Shabelle province, reports the Voice of America News.

Early on the morning of April 3, Al-Shabaab fighters attacked military bases in Barire and Awdhegle, west of Mogadishu.

The forward bases protect bridges over the Shabelle River that authorities say are vital to prevent car bombs from entering Mogadishu.
