On June 3, 2026, the Canadian government announced the purchase of 26 Lockheed Martin High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS), along with related munitions and a ten-year industrial and economic partnership plan. The agreement also includes investments in Canadian businesses, research organizations, and Indigenous partners to promote economic growth, innovation, and national sovereignty.

HIMARS is a mobile, rocket artillery system capable of delivering precise strikes against long-range targets. The system uses standard munitions such as Guided Multiple Launch Rocket Systems and the Precision Strike Missile. Lockheed Martin's industrial plan will support advanced technologies, including UAV manufacturing, electro-optical systems, clean-energy applications, and Arctic-focused infrastructure.
