Army Eyes Israeli Iron Dome System For Interim Cruise Missile Defense

The U.S. Army has decided to acquire two Rafael Iron Dome batteries by 2020 in the first phase of a program designed to provide an interim cruise missile defense system, reports the Times of Israel.

The decision follows an internal review last year to determine if the Iron Dome, the Norwegian NASAMs or a future U.S. system could best fill a gap in defenses against cruise missile threats.
