11 Police Die In Roadside Blast Blamed On Al-Shabaab

Eleven Kenyan police officers have been killed in a roadside bombing along the border with Somalia, reports the Standard (Nairobi).

On Saturday, officers from the General Service Unit (GSU) were on patrol on Degoh Road, Garissa county, when their Toyota Land Cruiser struck a suspected improvised explosive device (IED).

The bomb was believed to have been planted by the Somali militant group, Al-Shabaab. The group has claimed credit for similar attacks in the past.
