Most of Paraguay's military equipment is acutely outdated. but the combination of severe budgetary constraints and few internal or external threats makes major acquisitions both unfeasible and unnecessary in many circumstances.

 

As is the case with countries across the world, the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic and corresponding global economic downturn have imposed acute new fiscal challenges on the Paraguayan state that will further impede new procurement activity.
