OVERVIEW

The Bolivian army is equipped and trained for both conventional military operations and counterinsurgency and anti-drug operations. The latter two areas are now Bolivia's primary defense concerns. The army is organized according to regions, although several contingents are directly responsible to the army headquarters. The regional troops are organized into:
