The Czech government joined the NATO E-3A Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) program in December 2009 as a full-fledged member shortly after signing the agreement earlier, in September. Since January 2010, the Czech Republic has paid EUR290,000 ($391,000) per year as part of the 16-nation AWACS program.
