Aircraft Programs
A key program under the first half (2001-2005) of Ireland's 10-year armed forces modernization plan (2001-2010) was the EUR60 million purchase of eight light training aircraft from Pilatus in January 2003. The PC-9M advanced turboprop trainers replaced the Irish Air Corps' 10 aging Aermacchi SF-260WE aircraft. Deliveries of the last few PC-9Ms were completed in 2005. These aircraft also provide (extremely) limited air-to-air and air-to-ground capability.
