The armed forces of Belarus are directly subordinate to the Belarusian president. The Defense Ministry is responsible for administrative matters and strategic oversight. The president also heads the Committee for Civil Defense, which largely constitutes the paramilitary forces. The Air Force and Air Defense Corps are subservices of the Army. The armed forces of Belarus actively cooperate with the Russian military, as Belarus has been placed under Moscow's strategic umbrella.
