OVERVIEW

The Cuban Revolutionary Navy (Marina de Guerra Revolucionaria, MGR) is responsible for shore-based coastal defense as well as offshore naval operations.

The Cuban navy has lost most of its operational capabilities. Almost every ship is unserviceable, derelict or scrapped.

The navy has the following organizational structure:

  2 territorial commands
    1 Western Naval Flotilla
    1 Eastern Naval Flotilla
