OVERVIEW

The Army of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR, or Fuengas Armadas Revolucionarias) is organized into three regional army commands (Western, Central and Eastern) and subdivided into four army corps.

Each corps contains regular army units that are supplemented by reserve and territorial militia personnel to bring them to full strength. The strength and capability of the army has deteriorated significantly since the breakup of the Soviet Union in 1989.
