OVERVIEW

The Korean People's Army (KPA), the largest and most formidable of the DPRK's military forces, is responsible for the coordination of land combat forces, the operation of Special Purpose Forces (SPF) and low-level air defense missions. A majority of KPA ground units, including artillery, are believed to be forward-deployed along the demilitarized zone (DMZ).
