This class of midget submarines was built in Iran, possibly with North Korean assistance. They resemble the North Korean YONO class, although some sources indicate the GHADIR class is closer to Pyongyang's SANG-O-class coastal subs. The Iranian boats are designed for coastal operations, including transporting special operations forces, laying mines and reconnaissance.
