The Indian navy ordered 16 ships under the Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASWSWC) program divided into two variants built by Cochin Shipyard (CSL) in Kochi and Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE) in Kolkata, respectively. Each shipyard is building eight vessels. The GRSE version is covered in a separate record. The ASWSWC vessels are intended to replace the navy's aging ABHAY-class patrol craft.
