Originally built between 1973 and 1977. Four earlier units were delivered to Nicaragua -- two in April 1978 and two in May 1978 (all have since been stricken). The existing craft are three former Israeli navy units acquired in November 1995 as replacements for the earlier four. After a complete ove rhaul, they were commissioned into the Nicaraguan navy on Aug. 13, 1996.
