These vessels are former Soviet SONYA-class minesweepers. Two ships of this class were transferred in 1982 and a second pair in 1985. The craft were designed under Valeriy Ivanovich Nemudrov. HULL: The wooden long-forecastle hull is sheathed in fiberglass; it has full lines and a transom stern. The tripod mast is stepped into the after portion of the superstructure.
