In September 2006, Estonia signed a contract with the U.K. for the purchase of three SANDOWN-class minehunters for US$80.1 million, including refurbishment, maintenance and training. HULL: The vessels are constructed from glass-reinforced plastic (GRP). A frameless, single-skin GRP hull with "top-hat" stiffeners withstood shock tests at four times the Royal Navy's operational requirements.
