The vessels in the JAMARAN class are Iranian-designed corvettes often referred to as destroyers in Iranian publications. The design appears to be based off the British ALVAND-class (Vosper Mk 5), which have been in the Iranian navy for decades. The ship is designed to carry a missile-armed helicopter.
