The ELEPHANT is a multi-role patrol ship that Namibia purchased from China. It is used for patrol, training, search-and-rescue and cargo and personnel transport missions. The ELEPHANT replaced the LT. GEN. JEROBEAM DIMO HAMAAMBO patrol ship, which was decommissioned on Aug. 13, 2012.
