The VIKRAM-class offshore patrol vessels were ordered by the Indian coast guard for coastal and inshore duties. They would have a limited wartime role. Missions for the class include counter-piracy, counter-smuggling, pollution response and search-and-rescue. These are the first Indian military vessels to be built by a private shipyard.
