These patrol boats are improved versions of the Kbv-281 class (see separate database entry) with lower superstructure. Both of these units were completed about 1990.

In 1988, the pendant prefixes for all Swedish coast guard ships and craft were changed from Tv (Tullverketor central customs office) to Kbv (Kustbevakningor coast guard).
