Transferred to the navy from the state merchant fleet (Flota Mercante de Estado ) and operated as a commercial cargo ship on runs from Asuncion to Europe. It was manned by a navy crew carrying commercial cargo. The ship was reclassified a training ship in 1991.

The ship is believed to have been laid up sometime after 2004.
