ROPUCHA I (LST) class

Larger than the Soviet ALLIGATOR-class tank landing ships (LSTs), these ships represent the ultimate in Soviet LST design. They are typed as bol'shoy desantyy korbal' (BDK, large landing ships). They were built in two groups: The first batch from 1975 to 1978; and the second from 1982 to 1987.
