The CANBERRA-class landing helicopter docks are based on the Spanish JUAN CARLOS I design. They are intended to replace the KANIMBLA class. They will serve as an amphibious operations nerve center, providing transport, command-and-control, humanitarian aid and limited air support capabilities.
