The next-generation RASSPUTIN is an active-source sonobuoy under development by Thales. It is an optimized version of the Thales Low-Frequency Active Sonobuoy (LFAS). The name is an acronym for Rapid Area Search Sonar Projector Used Tactically in Narrowband. It features a narrowband low-frequency pinger and a field of passive buoys as receivers.
