AN/SSQ-522 is an active sonobuoy developed from the U.S. AN/SSQ-47B system. The SSQ-522 is a non-directional surveillance sonobuoy designed for use by fixed-wing aircraft.
The high-frequency (HF) system performs detection, classification, tracking and location of submarines. SSQ-522 uses automatic keyed continuous wave (CW) emissions for target detection and tracking.
