The interim removable low-frequency active sonar (IRLFAS) system is the result of a development project to provide the Dutch navy with a low-frequency active sonar (LFAS) system for its KAREL DOORMAN-class (M-class) frigates.
The IRLFAS is designed as a dual-tow system. It tows both an active LFAS transducer source and a passive towed receiver array deployed behind the ship.
