Type 669 is a long-range height-finding radar derived from the S269 surveillance radar system. The 2,607 nm (3,000 m; 4,828 km) NATO Air Defense Ground Equipment (NADGE) radar chain uses 14 S269 radars. The chain begins in Norway and ends in Turkey. Type 669 is designed for fixed installation as part of an air defense sensor network.
