The Type 404A is a fixed coastal defense surveillance radar. It consists of an elliptical parabolic reflector antenna, a two-channel receiver, signal processor and two displays.
The antenna has circular polarization that is remotely adjustable for clutter rejection. The Type 404A's operating range is equal to the radar horizon. A plan position indicator (PPI) type display is used with an A- and B-scope display.
