The Type 311-A is an air defense fire-control radar usually deployed with 37- or 57-mm caliber air defense guns. It consists of an operations trailer and a towing vehicle and is usually used with a rangefinder and a computer. The system is not operational in transit, but has a short set-up time of 15 min.

The operations trailer houses the system electronics and associated equipment. The antenna is located on top of the operations trailer and is protected by a radome.
