The JAN/MPQ-N1 (Type 92) is used to detect mortar locations for counter action. The system can handle multiple targets.
This towed radar is a Japanese license-built version of the US AN/MPQ-4 (see separate entry) that was produced by General Electric. That system is no longer in production but is still in service with the U.S. Army, though in declining numbers.
Current operational status is unavailable.
