The HN-401R was a mobile, long-range, air-defense radar. The system performed two-dimensional surveillance and consisted of three units: a trailer-mounted antenna, an operations shelter and a power cabin. The HN-401R used a 30-element, horizontally polarized, Yagi dipole antenna array. The elements were arranged in four horizontal rows with the two center rows each consisting of 12 elements, and the top and bottom each consisting of six elements.
