AN/TPS-65
description
The AN/TPS-65 was a variable range air search radar similar in characteristics to the earlier AN/TPS-63 . The TPS-65 was developed as a military air-traffic control radar featuring dual diversity within 51 channels with manual or automatic selection.
The radar featured an advanced moving target indicator (MTI) with a 90 percent probability of detecting a 1 sq m target in heavy clutter. Radar range can be increased to 120 nm (140 mi, 220 km) or 160 nm (180 mi, 300 km).
