Itata was an electronic intelligence (ELINT) system designed to detect, identify and locate radars in regions surrounding Chile. Itata was intended for use in light transport aircraft, but could be reconfigured for ground or naval use if required.
The receiver operated over the 30 Mhz to 18 GHz range over six bands. Signals were detected by the rotating dish antenna and passed to the fully programmable superheterodyne receiver.
