The SLAR 100 is used primarily to measure ice flows and other weather monitoring duties, but can be adapted to military use as a maritime patrol radar. The SLAR 100 displays data both on a screen and on film for later analysis. The SLAR 100-equipped Dash 7 aircraft normally operates at altitudes of between 5,00 and 10,000 feet.
