The AS-X-19 Koala was a developmental supersonic, air-launched, land-attack cruise missile. It was derived from the SS-NX-24 Scorpion submarine-launched missile.
The Koala was expected to arm the Tu-142 Bear-H long-range bomber, each aircraft carrying two missiles. It was supersonic and had a greater range than the U.S. AGM-86 ALCM or BGM-109 Tomahawk.
