The SS-20 Saber ** was a mobile nuclear intermediate-range ballistic missile (IRBM). It was a solid-propellant two-stage missile with three multiple independent reentry vehicles (MIRVs). The missile itself was called the Pioner ( Pioneer) in Soviet service. It was likely intended to replace the SS-4 and SS-5 missiles deployed in Eastern Europe.
