The Yu-8, also known as the CY-5, is a rocket-assisted torpedo in service with the Chinese navy.
The system is designed to be fired from a vertical launch system. The rocket propels the torpedo to a greater range than standard tube-launched torpedoes.
The main armament of the Yu-8 is the Yu-11 lightweight torpedo. It has an estimated sensor range of 1,200 yd (1,100 m) to 2,730 yd (2,500 m).
