The UDM series anti-surface and antisubmarine magnetic influence mines are designed for air drop or surface launch. Deployable in water over 26 ft (8 m) deep, they can also be fitted with a remote-controlled capability.

The UDM and UDM-2 are fitted with fin stabilizers. UDM-500 has a braking parachute.

The UDM is categorized as a large mine; UDM-2, a super large mine; and UDM-500, a small mine.
