The RM-2 was a rocket-assisted submarine or ship-laid moored mine with influence sensors. When activated, the mine launched a stabilized solid-fuel rocket with both impact and influence fuzing. It could be deployed in waters up to 1,480 ft (450 m) deep.

This was a reliable and effective system with an attack that lasted only seconds. Other countries have reportedly had trouble producing similar mines.
