The KPM is a surface-ship launched moored anti-invasion/beach landing contact mine with three chemical horns.

The mine can be laid by small craft moving up to 6 knots. The explosive charge is equivalent to 1,060 lb (480 kg) of TNT. It can be moored in waters that are 5-20 m (16 ft-66 ft) deep.

status

In service. Initial operational capability (IOC) was achieved in 1957.

The mine was offered for export in February 1993 at the IDEX arms show in Abu Dhabi.
