KB-1 contact plummet mine

Country of Origin: Russia

This was a spherical, moored, contact plummet-type mine. A plummet-type mine has a metal guard that automatically detaches itself after laying. This allows the mine to be laid in ice-covered waters.

This was an updated version of the M-08 and similar to the air-dropped M-31 mine.

No longer in service.

The KB-1 was introduced into service with the Soviet Union in the early 1930s.
