SS-N-8 Sawfly SLBM

This SLBM was the naval version of the SS-14 and was developed for Russia's DELTA-class ballistic missile submarines (SSBN). It was the first Russian (ex-Soviet) two-stage submarine missile and the only two-stage liquid-fueled SLBM to enter service anywhere. It achieved nearly three times the range of its immediate predecessor, the SS-N-6, allowing DELTA-class SSBNs to remain in Russian territorial waters and still target the United States.
