The SS-N-4, known in former Soviet service as the R-13, was the Soviet navy's first operational submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM). Diesel-propelled ZULU V (two tubes) and GOLF-class (three tubes) submarines and nuclear-propelled HOTEL-class (three tubes) submarines carried the SS-N-4 from 1958 to about 1980. The ZULUs were scrapped while 13 GOLFs and all eight HOTELs were converted to fire the SS-N-5 Sark SLBM.
The missile's propellants were AK-271 fuel and TG-2 oxidant....
